Q&A with Jonathan Schacher

Jonathan, can you tell us about the early days of Grupo Visión and what motivated you to start this company?

Jonathan Schacher: Absolutely. Grupo Visión was born out of a desire to leverage technology to solve real-world problems in our region. Back in 2002, we saw a gap in how businesses and government institutions in Central America and the Caribbean utilized technology. Our motivation was to fill that gap by providing robust, adaptable solutions that could drive growth and efficiency.

Growing up in a family involved in various businesses, how did this shape your approach to entrepreneurship and technology?

Jonathan Schacher: Growing up in such an environment was pivotal. It instilled in me the values of hard work, innovation, and resilience. Being involved in diverse sectors like coffee, real estate, and motorcycles gave me a broad perspective on business. It taught me the importance of innovation and adaptability, which have been central to Grupo Visión’s ethos in developing technological solutions.

You’ve faced criticism from opposing government bodies and competitors. How do you navigate these challenges while ensuring the company’s growth and mission integrity?

Jonathan Schacher: Challenges are part of any business, especially when you’re trying to innovate and disrupt the status quo. We stay true to our mission by focusing on delivering value to our clients and communities. We believe that by concentrating on our work’s positive impact, we can navigate criticism and opposition with integrity and resilience.

Education seems to have played a significant role in your life. How has your educational background influenced your leadership style and vision for Grupo Visión?

Jonathan Schacher: Education has indeed been a cornerstone of my personal and professional development. The diverse educational experiences, from the American School of Tegucigalpa to Bentley University and Florida International University, have broadened my horizons. They’ve instilled a global perspective, a deep understanding of finance and international business, and a commitment to continuous learning. These elements are reflected in how we approach challenges, innovate, and lead Grupo Visión towards new frontiers.

Grupo Visión has created over 3000 jobs in the region. Can you share your philosophy on job creation and its importance to the local economy?

Jonathan Schacher: Job creation is not just about numbers; it’s about empowering communities and fostering sustainable growth. Our philosophy is centered on creating opportunities that not only provide employment but also nurture skills and innovation. By investing in our people, we contribute to the local economy’s vibrancy and resilience, ensuring that our growth is inclusive and beneficial for all stakeholders.

Your hobbies include golf. Do you find any parallels between golf and managing a business?

Jonathan Schacher: Interestingly, yes. Golf is a game of strategy, patience, and precision. Similarly, in business, you need a clear strategy, the patience to see your plans through, and the precision in decision-making. Both require a calm demeanor and the ability to navigate challenges with focus and determination.

Philanthropy is a significant part of your life. Can you share more about the causes you support and why they are important to you?

Jonathan Schacher: Philanthropy is about giving back and making a tangible difference in people’s lives. The causes we support, like Parque para una Vida Mejor and Fundación del Niño con Cáncer, are close to my heart because they address critical needs in our society – from improving quality of life to supporting those battling cancer. Through these efforts, we aim to build stronger, more supportive communities that can thrive together.

Looking to the future, what’s next for Grupo Visión and your role within the company and the broader community?

Jonathan Schacher: The future is incredibly exciting. We’re continually exploring new technologies and markets to expand our impact. My role is to steer Grupo Visión towards these new opportunities while ensuring that our core mission of empowering businesses and communities with technology remains at the heart of everything we do. Beyond business, I’m committed to deepening our philanthropic efforts to foster positive change in our society.
