Over the past nine years, Julia Grosu, an entrepreneur, coach, online sales professional, and women’s motivational mentor, has built a noteworthy career. In addition to launching multiple online businesses that offer personalized women’s and children’s apparel and accessories, Julia, who is recognized for her work on platforms like Etsy and Shopify, has dedicated herself to supporting aspiring business owners. With a focus on producing high-quality, personalized goods—including her personalized pajamas, which have reportedly received a high percentage of favorable reviews—Julia has become a guide to numerous students pursuing their own online ventures. Through her approach to business and continuous learning, she and her sister have grown their firm from an $800 investment to a business with 30 employees, a 7,500 square foot warehouse, and a self-reported turnover of $5 million. Across Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and Telegram, Julia shares insights and advice with a diverse community of learners and sellers.

Could you first briefly introduce yourself and your projects?

Thank you for having me. I’m Julia Grosu, and I’m passionate about digital commerce. I focus on selling personalized items—mainly apparel and accessories—on platforms like Etsy and Shopify. In addition to running the business, I provide coaching for individuals looking to explore online sales and also maintain a blog. My sister and I began with a modest investment, and today we’ve grown the venture into a multi-platform operation. A big part of my mission is to support women and immigrants in exploring opportunities in the digital economy.

What inspired you to concentrate on Etsy and Shopify, and how did you get started?

My goal from the start was to create something meaningful and personalized. I was drawn to Etsy for its focus on handcrafted and creative products—perfect for the custom pieces I wanted to offer. Shopify gave me the ability to shape a more cohesive brand and customer experience. Using both platforms allowed me to reach broader audiences while maintaining quality standards. This dual strategy has also informed how I coach others and manage revenue streams.

How do you balance your roles as coach, entrepreneur, and content creator?

It can be challenging but also very rewarding. I value continuous learning, which helps me adapt to the evolving digital landscape. My day involves managing the business, connecting with audiences, and conducting coaching sessions. I’ve implemented tools to automate routine tasks—like inventory tracking and customer outreach—which helps free up time. Delegating and staying flexible have been key to balancing these responsibilities.

Could you explain how you use social media platforms to connect with your community?

Social media is a big part of how I communicate. On Instagram, I share product photos and behind-the-scenes content. YouTube is where I offer longer tutorials and marketplace guidance. TikTok lets me reach a younger audience with short-form tips, while Telegram is my go-to for sharing daily insights and trends. These platforms help me create a space where others feel supported and informed.

Tell us more about your coaching style and how you guide new sellers.

My coaching is based on real-world experience and adaptability. I believe learning by doing—and sometimes making mistakes—is part of the journey. I tailor my approach to individual goals, whether that’s writing compelling product descriptions or improving customer service. I also emphasize resilience and growth, encouraging students to see setbacks as learning moments. Building a sustainable brand requires ongoing refinement, not perfection.

Your profile notes that you’ve worked with over 500 students. What factors do you believe have contributed to their progress?

Many of the people I work with are incredibly dedicated. I guide them through product development, customer communication, and platform optimization. We focus on consistency and responsiveness to customer needs. Some students have shared that they’ve used their earnings for meaningful personal goals, like home savings. Their success comes from a combination of hard work, community support, and adaptability to the e-commerce landscape.

What makes your customized products stand out in the market?

We aim to make each item feel special. Every order is created with care, based on the buyer’s preferences. We use quality materials and regularly review feedback to make improvements. A significant percentage of our personalized pajamas receive positive feedback, which we attribute to attention to detail and customer care. Ultimately, we want customers to feel like they’re part of the process.

Can you describe some of the obstacles you’ve faced and how you addressed them?

Moving to the U.S. came with adjustments—language, market behavior, and navigating unfamiliar systems. I leaned into market research and trial-and-error to understand what worked. Scaling the business introduced new challenges in leadership and logistics. What helped was treating every challenge as a learning opportunity and building a reliable support system.

What are your future goals for the business?

A: In the next five years, I hope to expand the coaching program and support more individuals around the world. I’d like to create a more structured learning platform and continue running multiple e-commerce ventures. Encouraging creativity, independence, and financial self-reliance will remain central to that vision.

What advice would you give someone starting out in online sales?

Don’t wait for the perfect time. Start with what you have, learn as you go, and view mistakes as progress. Invest in your education—whether through formal programs or self-study. Stay curious and open to change. A consistent effort over time tends to bring clarity and momentum.

What do you think differentiates your approach in the online business space?

I think it’s the blend of personal experience and a practical mindset. I started without local support, so I understand the uncertainty that can come with that. I aim to offer advice that’s actionable and grounded in what’s worked for me. I also emphasize values like service, adaptability, and transparency in everything I do.

What motivates you to keep going?

It’s incredibly motivating to watch others succeed. Whether it’s a thank-you message from a customer or a milestone shared by a student, those moments make it all worthwhile. Being part of someone’s growth story is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

How can people connect with you and learn more?

I’m active on Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and Telegram. Each platform has its own purpose—whether it’s tutorials, updates, or community chats. People can also visit my blog for insights on product trends and selling strategies. I’m always glad to connect with those exploring online business.

Any final thoughts you’d like to leave with our readers?

Thank you for the thoughtful questions. I hope readers take away the idea that small starts can lead to meaningful outcomes. Entrepreneurship is a journey, and there’s value in every step—especially when you’re willing to keep learning.
