Maryam said the team at Gold Coast NYC Apparel visits a particular region to collect designs based on the native and cultural patterns. Upon returning to New York, she then uses the pattern and design collected to design new apparel styles. According to her, the brand’s first collection will feature heavily West Africa, specifically Ghana, Nigeria, and Mali.

On her competition, Maryam notes that nobody comes close because of the concept and the core idea behind Gold Coast NYC Apparel. They make African-inspired designs, not like the traditional designs that other designers are constantly recreating. For her, she is continually evolving in her styles and approach to every new design. Simultaneously, she also takes time to re-educate people on the meaning and significance of each design and print. “I am creating trendy clothes like those sold in Fashion Nova, Boohoo, Pretty Little Thing, but adding a cultural touch to it,” she explains. 

The brand is set to launch officially in September. Maryam Dimson has created a brand for the future—a brand that is set to redefine the fashion industry for years to come.
