Movers and Shakers Interview with Chiara Magni

Tell us your name and a little about yourself.

My name is Chiara Magni, I’m 31 and I live in Italy and I am a professional painter.

What exactly does your company do?

I am a professional painter, this is my job, my passion, and my love. I’ve always been a painter my whole life, this is something that just always belonged to me. Over 5 years ago I’ve decided that this needed for my full-time job and I’ve made a business out of it.

What were the biggest challenges you have faced and how did you overcome them?

Deciding to make a profession out of it was the most difficult decision I’ve ever taken, was a big jump and the risk of falling down was great. I’ve decided to challenge my fears, to defeat my demons and to follow what I’ve always known that was my path and my fate. At the beginning for a couple of years, I was so scared and overwhelmed by the idea of having a lot of competitors and a lot to catch up, I’ve spent some very stressful times; I could not fail at this and the only thing I knew was that I was not going to give up. So I endured staying focused and faithful to my dream and I’ve made it!

What piece of advice do you wish someone had given you at the start of your career?

What I’ve learned the hard way was that it was not easy at all and that it really took time. I am that kind of person that wants everything now, well I’ve had to change my mind on that and learned to give myself time, so the advice that I can give is: stay true to yourself and give yourself time while you never take your eyes off the mountain.

Who are your biggest influences and people you admire and why?

Strong entrepreneur women! As combining being a woman while making a carrier all on your own can be very hard and it is something that deserves respect.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are?

My fiance. He is always there for me, he was the first one believing in me when I had nothing, he was the only one able to understand me and all of my fears, he helped me overcome my demons and he still supports me every day and cheers to all of my successes.
