DC drops teaser for ‘Black Adam,’ featuring Dwayne Johnson

DC has released the first teaser for their newest blockbuster movie, “Black Adam.” And Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is featured prominently in the clip.

The hype for this new film is reaching a fever pitch as fans watch a 2-minute clip that shows The Rock in his newest role. His character has godlike powers, and debates are up if his role is on the good or bad side, but Dwayne will surely turn things upside down for fans.

The trailer reveals that Pierce Brosnan will appear in Dr. Fate’s role; although it is not clear what his character does or how he connects with Black Adam’s dilemma of choosing between saving or destroying Earth, the voiceover says, “You have two choices.” It seems this may refer to Dwayne, who must decide whether he wants to become its savior or otherwise.

The Black Adam is a 5,000-year-old warrior who has the ability to fly and possesses superhuman strength. He can punch through planes with one hand while holding onto an exploding rocket.

The teaser allows fans to see the warrior’s past, detailing that he was once a slave and was imprisoned in a tomb for five millennia until getting out.

Other big stars like Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, and Quintessa Swindell will also appear in the film.

“Your unwavering support and relentless excitement for this passion project of mine has meant the world to me. Now it’s my turn to deliver for you. The hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is changing,” said Johnson in an Instagram post.

The debut of Johnson as Black Adam is an exciting prequel that ties into DC’s plot, pitting him against Zachary Levi’s Shazam.

Johnson added, “As a kid, Superman was the hero I always wanted to be. But, a few years into my fantasy, I realized that Superman was the hero I could never be. I was too rebellious. Too rambunctious. Too resistant to convention and authority.”

The star further described his character as a being “blessed by magic with the powers equal to Superman, but the difference is he doesn’t toe the mark or walk the line. He’s a rebellious, one of a kind superhero who’ll always do what’s right for the people — but he does it his way.”

Black Adam will hit the big screen this coming October 21.
