The harsh reality being faced daily by people who suffer from a mental health disorder such as depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia is becoming more and more common in many communities and families in and outside of the United States. While there are available treatments and interventions to help people going through these medical conditions, the stigma attached to them is preventing people from seeking the help they need. Musician, influencer, and mental health advocate Jowy Cenat is using his vast reach to send out a message of hope to people suffering from a mental health problem.
In the United States, almost half of adults (46.4 percent) will experience a mental illness during their lifetime, according to a 2019 report published by Mental Health First Aid. The same report states that 5 percent of adults (18 or older) experience a mental illness in any one year, equivalent to 43.8 million people. Furthermore, half of all mental disorders begin by age 14 and three-quarters by age 24. Unfortunately, in the United States, only 41 percent of the people who had a mental disorder in the past year received professional health care or other services.
Jowy Cenat finished his degree major in health science with a pre-occupational therapy concentration and a minor in holistic health and public health from Stockton University. He is also a certified mental health first aid in the next five years. The main reason why he chose mental health as advocacy is because he went through the same ordeal while in college.
His past experiences have made him more sympathetic to the challenges faced by people who have a mental health disorder. He understands why people tend to isolate themselves, reject help, and turn to unhealthy habits. By using his influence and gift in music, he wants to reach out to those who are having difficulty managing their condition.
Cenat is a well-known pianist in school, and he would be asked to perform during activities at the university. He would also get paid to perform in big gatherings, and he discovered there is a way he can monetize his skill. He is also very passionate about making video content. By putting together his skills, he became an unstoppable influencer.
To teach others how to accomplish what he did on social media, Cenat published his book called Video Influencer Authority. It serves as a guide on how people can develop and monetize their passions using online video content. He also offers a free masterclass and a free book on Amazon.
Cenat is a Caribbean and Haitian born in Queens, New Jersey. Over the years, he has developed an extraordinary cultural sound and a deep passion for creating digital content that goes beyond just showcasing his piano skills.
Now more than ever, it has become clear to Jowy Cenat what he needs to do with his innate gifts of being able to connect with people and engage them with his music at the same time. It is his earnest hope that as he reaches out to people needing help to manage their mental health condition, they will respond with an openness that can open doors to healing and full restoration.
