The loss I experienced on 9/11 was profound and life-altering. It taught me the fragility of life and the importance of making every day count. This tragedy propelled me to establish The TramutoPorter Foundation, focusing on advancing education and healthcare rights for young people and combating human rights violations. My approach to leadership and philanthropy has always been about creating meaningful change, and that incident reinforced my commitment to this cause.

Under your leadership, Tivity Health transformed its business model to focus on social determinants of health. Could you elaborate on the strategies you employed to make this shift successful?

At Tivity Health, we recognized that health is influenced by a range of social factors like nutrition, fitness, and social connections. My strategy was to partner collaboratively with consumers, healthcare practitioners, payers, and employers to address these factors. This meant innovating our business model to not just provide services, but to actively engage in improving health outcomes while reducing medical costs, focusing on a holistic approach to health and wellness.

You’ve been a strong advocate for addressing workplace bullying and promoting dignity and inclusion. What inspired you to lead this initiative, and what impact do you hope to achieve?

My commitment to workplace dignity and inclusion stems from a belief in the inherent worth of every individual. With the support of the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights organization, we’ve committed to a three-year, $1 million grant to combat workplace bullying. The goal is to foster a more inclusive, respectful work environment across the U.S. and Europe, ensuring every employee feels valued and heard.

You’ve successfully merged social commitment with healthcare innovation in various roles. What advice would you give to emerging leaders who aspire to make a similar impact?

My advice to emerging leaders is to always align your professional goals with your personal values. The most impactful leaders are those who lead with compassion and a deep sense of purpose. Innovation is not just about technology or business models; it’s about how you can positively influence people’s lives. Be bold in your vision and steadfast in your commitment to social change.

Can you share more about your vision for the groundbreaking 360° public service campaign addressing challenges unique to older adults?

The campaign is focused on issues often overlooked in older adults, such as isolation and loneliness. My vision is to create a comprehensive approach that encompasses healthcare, technology, and community engagement to support the wellbeing of older adults. By addressing these challenges holistically, we can improve their quality of life and ensure they remain connected and valued members of our society.

As an author of two books, what key messages do you hope readers take away from your writing?

In my books, “Life’s Bulldozer Moments” and “The Double Bottom Line,” I emphasize the power of adversity in shaping success and the importance of compassionate leadership. I hope readers are inspired to embrace their challenges as opportunities for growth and to lead with empathy, understanding that true success comes from impacting lives positively and delivering results with a compassionate approach.
