Is Madden an Esport and What to Expect From the Game in the Future

To those of you over the age of 50 and the people who have never owned a console or spent their lunch breaks watching their favourite streamers on YouTube, the world of esports may often sound a little mystifying.

In the most basic of terms, esports is the term used to describe the highest levels of competitive gaming, events which are often televised and attract audiences of millions of gaming enthusiasts.

Amongst the most high profile esports title are Dota 2, Fortnite and League of Legends, slightly down the list but still popular is Madden, the video game adaptation of the NFL.

In this article we take a look at Madden’s move into esports and give you an idea of what to expect from the title in the coming years.

If all this talk of football esports has got you in the mood for the coming NFL season be sure to have a look at the NFL odds and get your bets in early ahead of what promises to be a season to remember.

Madden Background

Named after Pro Football Hall of Fame coach and commentator John Madden, the game was first produced and released by EA Sports in 1988. Since then the game has come to be an institution of American Football.

Released yearly the game has seen a number of advancements and updates that have managed to keep it fresh and relevant. The addition of the Ultimate Team feature which allowed players to build squads from all available players and battle it out with one another online greatly increased the popularity of the game.

(The evolution of Madden from 1988 to the modern day.)

Madden’s Esports Expansion

Not content with dominating the sports video game market, EA Sports decided to transition Madden into the esports landscape. The Madden Championship Series is a string of online esports game events that pit players from all across the globe against one another in a nine month long tournament.

The goal of the nine month slog is to qualify for the Madden Bowl, the electronic equivalent of the Super Bowl. To get there, online players can compete in the following qualifying tournaments:

  • Madden Club Championship: Online players pick a team from the 32 NFL teams to represent and play one another to rise through the online leader boards. The best player from each NFL team’s group makes it through to the next round and plays in a straight up knockout.
  • Madden Classic: The top 512 players from each platform (Xbox, PlayStation, PC and so on) compete against each other in a head-to-head tournament, battling it out to be crowned #1.
  • Madden Challenge: The top 512 players compete with one another in a straight knockout using the Madden Ultimate Team Draft Game Mode.
  • Last Chance Qualifier: This last chance saloon game mode sees the double elimination of the top 128 players per platform with the games played out on Ultimate Team. The top four winners automatically qualify for the Madden Bowl.

The Madden Bowl

Eight teams compete in the crème de la crème of Madden esports. The team captains are allowed to pick two players each from the pool of remaining qualifiers to make up a three-person team.

To crown a winner, teams face off in a best of three format across multiple game modes to determine the out and out best teams.

The 2021 winner was Team Henry which was led by 18-year-old Henry Leverette who scooped himself a whopping $250,000 in prize money in the process, which brings us on to the next topic…

(Watch Henry Leverette’s stunning last-gasp victory in the Madden Bowl.)

Madden Esports Prize Money

The money on offer to winners of other esports titles like Dota 2 and Fortnite are genuinely eye watering, but that’s not to say that the prize money available to Madden winners is chump change.

As previously mentioned, Henry Leverette took the top prize of $250,000 in last season’s Madden Bowl. The runner up Wesley Gittens left with a cheque for $150,000 and the third and fourth placed teams took $100,000.

The money on offer in the qualifying modes is as follows:

Madden Club Championship – 1st: $150,000. 2nd: $80,000. 3rd-4th: $50,000

Madden Classic – 1st: $15,000. 2nd: $8,000. 3rd: $6,500

Madden Challenge: 1st: $15,000. 2nd: $8,000. 3rd:$6,500

The Future of Madden

The coming months and years look bright for Madden and EA Sports as it was confirmed recently that the title had signed a multi-year partnership with Fox Sports to broadcast Madden Club Championship games on Tuesday nights.

That was in addition to a flurry of new sponsorship deals, including the main sponsor of non-endemic brand Pizza Hut.

Whilst sharing the same sort of market status as first-person shooter titles might seem some way off, that is the ultimate goal for Madden. The pandemic demonstrated that there was a passion for Madden as an esport and now it is on the title and the broadcasters to take advantage of that.

Is there anything you would like to see Madden to do capitalise on the popularity of esports? Let us know in the comments section below.

A Discussion with Vijay Mehra eqt About the Nature of the Global Real Estate Industry

Vijay Mehra eqt has been a successful general management, real estate, and property investment advisor for more than 30 years. Although he currently negotiates the purchase and sale of properties across three continents—Asia, North America, and Europe—he spent the first portion of his career in the United Kingdom.

In his youth, Vijay took great pains to make sure he had a well-rounded education. He studied the arts, finance, and economics in post-secondary school, achieving top grades. Upon graduating, he quickly found his niche in advisory work, developing a passion for the discipline while connecting businesses and individuals with properties suitable for their needs. In addition to this, he has also developed a general management strategy and advisory role over the years, gaining a reputation for wise counsel among serious business people in many sectors of the economy.

Along with his wife, Vijay Mehra eqt began operating independently in the mid-2000s, and has since developed many partnerships with industry leaders and CEOs, using his considerable abilities to assist them in finding, developing, and developing new properties. Now operating out of the United States, Vijay Mehra eqt specializes in helping his clients with every facet pertaining to their management, property investment, and real estate business needs. He is widely-known to have a special talent for identifying and acquiring undervalued properties.

What do you love most about the industry you are in?

Every real estate deal is different from the one before it. No two are alike. I think that helps to keep me on my toes and engaged. It’s actually quite exciting.

What would you tell others looking to get into your industry?

You can never conduct too much research into a property before making an offer to purchase it. Use every avenue of investigation that’s available to learn as much as you can. After all, generally speaking, you’ll be dealing with millions of dollars of client money with each transaction! For the sake of your professional reputation and your firm’s livelihood, you have to be as sure as you possibly can that your recommendations are right.

What keeps you motivated?

Aside from providing a certain standard of living for myself and my wife, I think the thing that most motivates me is simply aiding my clients with their needs, all the while steadily growing the business.

What is the biggest lesson you have learned managing your business?

Although clients may seek me out because of my reputation for finding undervalued properties in Asia, North America, and Europe, as well as my ability to negotiate favorable contracts, they stay with me because of the fact that I actively cultivate my professional relationships. It took me a few years to learn this lesson, but long-term business relations require some attention. You don’t necessarily have to wine and dine a client, but you do have to check in regularly and ask about their needs.

If you could change one thing you did in the beginning of your career what would it be?

I was, admittedly, too conservative when it came to expanding the business when I was younger. In retrospect, I confined the area of my operations to only the United Kingdom for far too long. If I could change anything from the early part of my career, I would’ve branched out internationally—at least to the European continent—much sooner.

How do you maintain a work life balance?

I’m one of those lucky few people who is actually able to work alongside their significant other. Among other things, this enables us to see each other a great deal. Although we each travel for business from time to time, we’re never deprived of each other’s company for too long. I will also say that we do our best to separate our professional endeavors from our private life together. We make sure that, barring emergencies with the company, our home time is home time and disconnected from the business. We also take at least one long vacation each year in order to recharge, which is invaluable when it comes to maintaining work life balance.

What traits do you possess that make you a successful leader?

I’m very careful, but when the right opportunity comes along, I do not hesitate. I’m not risk-averse, but I’m also not irresponsible. I know how to use leverage in a negotiation. But most of all—and what all of these things add up to, taken as whole—I know how to produce for my clients. That is the fundamental skill that I possess on which the entire business rests.

What is one piece of advice that you have never forgotten?

A mentor of mine once told me something that always stuck with me. He said, “In this particular business, only two things matter: negotiating a solid deal for every transaction and client relations. If you focus almost all of your efforts on those two areas, you will inevitably achieve success.” I’ve taken this wisdom to heart over the decades, and the results have been undeniably good.

What is the biggest life lesson you have learned?

The biggest life lesson I’ve learned is that more goes into making a well-rounded person than simply making money and being good at your job. Family is important. Education is important. Health is important. Rest and relaxation is important. Above all else, treating your fellow human beings with dignity and respect, no matter their situation or station in life, is important.

Outside of work, what defines you as a person?

I love to travel and I love to read. My lifelong personal goal is to constantly broaden my mind and expand my knowledge.

Where do you see you and your company in five years?

I think we will have doubled our client list. Actually, barring any truly unforeseen events, I’m quite certain of it. Business is booming!

The Importance of Dedicated Servers

Dedicated servers are extremely important in today’s internet heavy world because everything on the internet is on some type of server. Whether you have your website on a dedicated server already, or you want to make the transition from a hosted server to a dedicated one that you have control of, it is important not to understate just how important these types of servers are.

Dedicated Servers Have Better Security

With so many businesses having to worry about cybersecurity, cyberattacks, and other problems involving both their data and the data of the customers that they protect. While most hosted servers do provide an admirable level of security for their users, if your business handles partially sensitive information then you might want to get a dedicated server for even better security and security that you can control.

Dedicated servers can eliminate various threats to your business, such as viruses, data attacks, and also problems on your website that happen as a result of your neighbors on the public server being attacked. Additionally, dedicated servers allow you to have total control over the security end of your website, where you can create custom disaster recovery plans, set up your own firewalls, and connect your preferred anti virus or malware program you want to the website.

Better Response Time For Your Business

One of the biggest problems for any business, no matter their industry, is the slow load and response times on their website. If their website has laggy load times, bad response times, and endless waiting for webpages to refresh, then your customers are going to go somewhere else… and the revenue that they could have given you is gone too

However, a dedicated server memes that your website is always going to run fast, and no amount of traffic is going to stop your load times from being extremely smooth. No matter how much data is being used or what is happening around the server, it will still run smooth and fast with very little downtime.

An IP Address That Is All Yours

Every single server has its own IP address, which is good. However, if your neighbors on your server all share your same IP address, and some of those neighbors happen to be a spam site, an adult site, or a website that isn’t trustworthy, then it can push down your SEO and make your website less trustworthy.

This isn’t good for your business or your customers, and a dedicated server can prevent your neighbors from affecting your score. Instead, you will be the only person on your server, which means that you won’t need to worry about sharing your IP address with others because it will be all yours.

They Give You Flexibility

Sometimes you want to get more CPU space out of your server for yourself or your clients, or you want some extra pieces of software that your pre-hosted server doesn’t allow you to have. Shared hosting tends to limit you based on what is already loaded on the server and you often don’t get the chance to change or customize it.

If you don’t want to be paying for a website feature that you don’t need for your business, or can’t access the features you do need, then a dedicated server gives you the flexibility you need in order to enhance and build up your website however you want it.

Plus, you aren’t sharing any resources such as CPU or RAM with the other websites on the server. This ensures that the entire server isn’t slowed down by your neighbors, so you not only have better website speed, but also more resources to use whatever tools you want with the entire server.

So if you want to update your website and increase its functionality, then getting a dedicated server is going to be one of the greatest things you can do.

Dedicated Servers Are Very Important

Dedicated servers are very important, and they will continue to be important as the world grows more and more connected to the internet. Having a strong network of USA dedicated servers will only increase how well your website is and you will be able to customize and secure your website for all of your customers and clients.

So if your business doesn’t have a dedicated server, start to look for opportunities to buy one because they will give your business all sorts of benefits and will end up paying for themselves in the long run. Isn’t that an investment you want to make?

Byron Johnson’s Beginners Guide to Affordable Health Insurance

Byron Johnson, commercial real estate investor, entrepreneur, and CEO of an insurance agency, ObamacareEnrollment.org, is an expert on health insurance. He believes that with the complexities of the US healthcare system, most American citizens don’t have explicit knowledge of health insurance. So, how can they choose the right health insurance plan?

Healthcare in the United States is the most expensive in the world. With the COVID pandemic, the hospitalization cost increases day by day, making it vital to get healthcare insurance for yourself and your loved ones. Having health insurance in place will offer financial security and help you tackle uncertain health risks with the help of quality healthcare services.

Undoubtedly, the United States has the most complex healthcare system in the world. Unlike its neighboring countries, the cost of healthcare services in the US is your and your family’s responsibility. In many countries, essential healthcare is provided for free or at a reasonable cost. But, in the US, one appointment with a doctor can cost you a few hundred. If you had to be hospitalized due to disease and required regular healthcare, your bill will cross $10,000. The Affordable Care Act or Obamacare was introduced to help American citizens get relief from the high insurance bills, but it’s still not the final answer.

Buying healthcare insurance will help you cover the medical expenses, given that you have chosen the right health insurance plan that fits your needs without breaking your wallets.

Byron Johnson understands that it’s easier to find the optimal health insurance plan, but it can be overwhelming to choose among different options offered by different insurance companies. Byron Johnson has made it easier for us as in today’s article; we will be learning about different types of insurance plans, which plan would work the best for your needs, and what is covered under each insurance plan. Here’s a complete guide for you to choose the right health insurance plan for you and your family.

What is covered by healthcare insurance?

Typically, your health insurance policy covers the medical expenses incurred due to the diagnosis of a disease. Generally, the surgeries are covered under your health insurance policy, but you need to purchase separate plans for dental and vision insurance. Up until 2019, it was mandatory to purchase health insurance, and if you didn’t have one, you would be charged with a tax penalty. But, in 2019, this mandate was removed by the federal government.

What are the different types of health insurance?

According to Byron Johnson, here are several different types of insurance plans that you can buy:

  • Employer-sponsored: You can get health insurance through your employer. If a company has over 50 full-time employees, it is required to provide healthcare coverage. It allows you to split your monthly insurance premium with your employer.
  • Individual and family plans: This healthcare insurance coverage is available to everyone and can be bought through state or federal marketplace and health insurance companies.
  • Medicare: Medicare allows you to buy healthcare insurance for senior citizens that require regular health care services. You can buy it through an insurance company or the government.
  • Medicaid: This insurance coverage is offered by the government for low-income people, pregnant females, older adults, and people with disabilities. Depending on the state, it is often low-cost or even free to enroll.
  • Short-term insurance: A short-term insurance plan offers temporary health insurance to cover the gap in your coverage.
  • Dental and Vision: Byron Johnsons suggests that the beneficiary should buy separate insurance plans for dental and vision care as most medical insurances do not cover these.

How much does health insurance cost?

The cost for health insurance plans varies depending on the type of insurance plan and the coverage offered. As a result, your insurance rate will fluctuate annually despite sticking with the same insurance provider.

Byron Johnson notes, the average healthcare insurance premium is $479 for individuals and $1,229 for families. The cost of your health insurance is calculated based on zip code, age, gender, and other factors.

When to buy health insurance?

You can buy a health insurance plan at any time, depending on your insurance coverage type. If you are unsure whether you need a healthcare insurance plan or not, you can reach out to Byron Johnson, as he can find the best healthcare insurance plan for your needs.

Where to buy health insurance?

You can contact health care insurance providers online and get a quote for your monthly or annual health care premium. You also have the option to go through your state or the federal marketplace.

How to find an affordable health insurance plan?

If you want to find a healthcare insurance plan that matches your needs and fits in your budget, you need to know how to make your healthcare insurance affordable, explains Byron Johnson. The best way to reduce the cost of your healthcare insurance is by selecting a high deductible.

Dubai Investment Fund is Expanding Its Operations in Cyprus, New Zealand and The Czech Republic

We recently learned that the Dubai Investment Fund (DIF) is expanding its operations in New Zealand, the Czech Republic and Cyprus. The company will develop its presence in these countries by opening offices to reach more businesses and gain broader market access.

The first of these offices opened in Prague, Czech Republic, in August, to be followed by offices in Wellington, New Zealand, and Nicosia, Cyprus, by mid-September. Employees can choose to work from home, in the office, or in a hybrid mode that combines remote work and travel to the office.

According to our observations of DIF’s development in the recent years, and as has happened repeatedly in some regions, operations in the Czech Republic and Cyprus will focus primarily on real estate, tourism, finance and artificial intelligence. The New Zealand office will focus on new projects in environmental, social and governance issues, as well as green energy and healthcare.

In addition to traditional operations, the company also plans to invest in solar energy projects and pioneering biomedical ventures in New Zealand. These pioneering biomedical projects will explore different methods of combining artificial intelligence with modern medical advances. This endeavor is the result of years of interdisciplinary research in collaboration with leaders in the field of artificial intelligence. The company also has offices in Dubai, London, Sydney, Mumbai, Tokyo, New York, Frankfurt, Zurich, Quebec, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Seoul, Milan, Singapore, Luxembourg, Shanghai and Barcelona.  With three new offices, the total number of countries served by the company has grown to twenty.

The company’s headquarters are invariably located in Dubai, and has a staff of 2,600 people. As of this writing in September 2022, in addition to Dubai, DIF’s most strategic offices are in New York, London, Tokyo, Frankfurt, Hong Kong and Shanghai.

The Dubai Investment Fund manages about $320 billion in assets on behalf of its 7,300 clients in 61 countries. Since its founding in 2001, DIF has employed 920 people in financial positions. A full account of the investment fund’s history is available in English on its Web site.

Last year, its operating income grew by AED 14.3 billion ($3.8 billion) in 2021, an increase of 27 percent over the previous year. The corporation’s total revenue was 180.7 billion dirhams ($49.2 billion), an increase of 4.25 percent over the previous year. The company’s year-end total assets were AED 1,184.6 billion ($322.2 billion) and total equity was AED 878.1 billion ($231.1 billion).

The rapid expansion of the Dubai Investment Fund is a strong indication that the fund is constantly seeking new investment opportunities to diversify the risks of its portfolio. Given this expansion, as well as the creation of multiple departments dedicated to innovation and ESG investment, it is safe to assume that the Dubai Investment Fund (DIF) is also targeting its assets to capitalize on the potential of future technologies.

6 Best Restaurants to Visit in NYC

New York City; it’s known for bright lights, cars honking 24/7, and where big-name stars gather for specific events like Fashion Week. It’s also a melting pot; many cultures thrive there, making it a city with cuisines from all over the world and a “foodie’s” dream.

If you plan on taking a trip to the “Big Apple” soon, you’ll need to prepare beforehand. Traveling and walking around with luggage can be a stressful experience. You’ve seen NYC depicted in movies before—people hustling and bustling or yelling “fuggedaboutit”—meaning it isn’t the most friendly place.

So it would be better to use luggage storage in NYC to avoid hassle while walking around. Once your belongings are secure, next is finding the best restaurants to dine in. If you’re unsure, our guide provides a few suggestions you may find interesting.

1. Katz’s Delicatessen

If you’ve seen a TV show or movie centered around NYC, there’s a high chance someone went into a deli and ordered a “pastrami on rye.” It’s one of the most iconic sandwiches and a staple amongst NYC-dwellers.

Although there are other options, many New Yorkers will tell you that Katz is the place to get one. It’s been around for over 100 years and still has that old-school NYC feeling when you walk in the door. Yes, sandwiches are their go-to, but you can also enjoy other classics like chicken noodle soup, burgers, or potato latkes.

Furthermore, Katz has evolved with the times. So if you fall in love after dining there, you’ll also be able to order it online. They ship nationwide, so you’ll never have to go without your favorites from the famed deli.

2. Au Za’atar

There is food for everyone in NYC, and Au Za’atar ensures it combines traditional Lebanese cuisine with American staples. One of the more popular dishes on the menu is the mezze, an assortment of small plates that comes with homemade flatbread.

Furthermore, it would be a disservice to your tastebuds if you didn’t try the shawarma. It’s chicken, beef, or lamb that’s slow-roasted all day, making the meat tender and juicy. Plus, it’s served on a mountain of french fries that is aesthetically pleasing and tasty.

3. Teranga

Not many tourists know about this West African haven in Harlem, NY. But after you eat here, you’ll definitely recommend it to friends and family. Teranga is a well-known spot by locals because of how it embraces the community but also invites others to dive into the richness of West African culture through its food.

Meals come in a plate or bowl and consist of:

  • A protein–chicken, fish, or veggie option
  • Rice–Jollof or African red rice
  • Black-eyed peas
  • Plantains

It’s an excellent budget-friendly place if you want to get the bang for your buck. And besides what’s listed above, there are plenty of options for vegetarians and those looking to avoid gluten.

4. Ugly Baby

Seeing the name of this restaurant might turn you off altogether. But we promise that you’ll regret it if you do. Ugly Baby is a popular Thai restaurant in Brooklyn that you may want to tackle with a large group. Why? That’s because you’ll want to try everything on the menu.

Depending on your party’s size, Ugly Baby gives you the option to try set menus with the ability to add on anything else that may be appealing. You can try items like curried catfish wrapped in grilled banana leaves or their various assortment of Thai curries. Plus, they have an extensive beer and wine list that will satisfy everyone’s needs.

5. Sylvia’s

You can’t talk about food in NYC without mentioning Sylvia’s. Sylvia Woods, the owner, started this as a small luncheonette in 1962. Now it’s blossomed into one of the most famous establishments in the city.

Sylvia’s serves soul food, which is cooking consisting of recipes such as:

  • Mac and cheese
  • BBQ ribs
  • Friend chicken
  • Collard greens
  • Black-eyed peas

One of the most popular items is chicken and waffles. So if you’re in the mood for some comfort food, this is the place to go.

6. Peter Luger Steakhouse

While Googling “luggage storage in NYC,” you’ll probably venture into a wormhole looking up information about the area. That search will inevitably lead you to look for a solid steakhouse. Of course, everyone has their own opinions, but the consensus among New Yorkers is that the Peter Luger Steakhouse is the best.

It’s been around for over 100 years, so it’s safe to say they know what they’re doing. All of the beef is dry aged, giving it the succulent taste that’s become a favorite amongst diners. Most people go for the porterhouse steak, which comes presliced on a hot plate and is served with sides like creamed spinach or German fried potatoes.

Try These Restaurants While Visiting NYC

With the number of restaurants available, your taste buds will have a field day while you’re in New York. So to fully enjoy yourself, find luggage storage in NYC, select a few spots from our list, and eat like no tomorrow.

How Business Expense Management Can Improve Your Financial Success

One of the most important things you can do for your business is help it become more successful financially. To do that, you need to make sure you’re tracking income and expenses correctly. That way you can see what’s coming in, and what’s going out. It’s not just basic bills you need to be mindful of, either. You also need to consider your employees’ expenses.

If you have company cars, credit cards, and expense accounts, for example, you likely trust your employees not to overspend or abuse those privileges. Even the most careful and thoughtful employees may accidentally use their accounts for things they shouldn’t, if they aren’t clear on the rules and guidelines.

Fortunately, there are ways you can track your business expenses correctly, so you don’t have to worry about mistakes and problems. If there are any issues, you can catch them quickly and make the right adjustments. With good management of your business expenses, you’ll work toward a better bottom line and more peace of mind.

You Need a Comprehensive Solution

The best option for quality business expense management is a comprehensive solution. Why? Because you want something you can rely on for everything you’re trying to track. That means you want everything in one place, for seamless integration that takes your expense management to the next level. When you properly track every employee’s expenses, you can see any problems quickly and make changes.

This level of tracking also benefits your employees, though, because it shows them you’re serious about making sure they’re reimbursed properly. That can keep them feeling confident that they’ll get their money back, and also being careful about the amount they’re spending. They don’t want to abuse the privilege of having an expense account or corporate card, and proper reimbursement for valid expenses is a big part of that.

Small businesses don’t often have comprehensive solutions to expense tracking, because they might not have that many expenses to worry about. But as your company grows, or if you’re already heading up a larger one, you need the abilities that expense tracking offers. A tool to keep everything in one place is among the best ways to feel secure, and to find problems before they can become larger, more serious issues for your company’s strength and future growth.

Automate Everything to Increase Accuracy

You can see more accuracy with your business expense management when you automate everything. Not only will all your expenses be tracked, but you’ll also have the opportunity to integrate various financial areas of your company. From approving expenses to reimbursing employees, you’ll have what you need right at your fingertips.

There’s no reason to settle for less than the help and support you need for increased financial success. When you take the management of your business expenses to the next level, you increase value and peace of mind. The accuracy of your company’s finances is critically important, and automation is a great way to increase and improve upon that accuracy for the long term.

Provide Reports to Look for Trends and Concerns

When you automate and streamline your business expense management, one of the benefits you can get is the ability to generate reports. With the right tools and solution providers, you can have reports that will show you the trends your business is experiencing. You’ll also have the chance to see areas of concern, so you can decide how to approach a solution to the problem.

Without solid reports, you may not be sure whether there are issues with your company’s financial health, or what might be causing those issues. It’s very hard to solve a problem you’re not aware of, and also difficult to solve a problem when you don’t know its source. Reports are an excellent way to help address that, and give you the information you need to make wise financial decisions for your company.

Integrate Preapproval Into the Expense System

Pre Approval of certain types of expenses can make it easier for your company to operate smoothly. With the right business expense management tools, you can integrate preapprovals, so you don’t have to worry about them. You can set amounts, items, employees, and other details, making sure authorization protocols are correctly followed.

Then you can sit back and know that specific expenses are automatically being handled, giving you one less area to worry about. Of course, those pre approved expenses will still be a part of the reports you generate, which helps you quickly discover if there are any adjustments that need to be made.

Peace of mind can’t be bought, but it’s much easier to find when you have the right system for managing your business expenses. Not only will that help your company grow, but it will offer protection for you, your employees, and your customers.

Julie Coles Recounts Her Experiences As An Educator and Author

“Julie Coles is an aspiring author from the Northeast region of the U.S.. As a new author and independent publisher Julie’s writing’s display her extraordinary perspective about a public education system in dire need of change.”

Education became Julie’s primary passion since spending her summers as a camp counselor for special needs children, teens and adults. The experience was so memorable because of the relationships formed with her campers. Both exhausting and exhilarating, Julie discovered her passion for supporting the needs of others, who helped her learn how to become a  compassionate humanitarian.

After receiving her bachelor’s degree from Brown University and her masters from the University of Connecticut, Julie went on to have a fulfilling career as a special education teacher. Enrolling in an Educational Leadership program to obtain her Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (C.A.G.S.) at Cambridge College in Massachusetts enabled her to achieve her goal of leading her own school.

Years of experience as a teacher and school leader taught her a great deal about the challenges both students and teachers face in economically challenged communities. Those experiences also influenced Julie’s decision to bring awareness to others about how outdated institutionalized policies unfairly tether public schools in many communities to substandard educational practices. Today she uses her writings, and new role as an author, to propose new educational models. The educational models are intended to remedy centuries of educational inequities contributing to pervasive academic achievement gaps.

The experience Julie Coles brings to her books lays a foundation for the future that is hopeful, but rooted in the reality of life around us. She knows the resources teachers lack, the opportunities provided to some schools but not all, and identified an approach to resolve the concerns. Her dedication to equality in education stems from her passion for the educational well-being of current and future generations of students.

Author Julie Coles created her first book to lay out a platform that will bridge gaps by empowering  students, engaging their families, and providing innovative strategies and instructional tools for teachers to assist them Cultivate Exceptional Classrooms; which is also the title of Julie Coles’ second book, scheduled for release in 2023.

Why did you decide to create your own business?

I decided to create my own business because I wanted a public platform that would allow me to share ideas about how to improve the quality of education and the overall educational experience of students.

The process of creating my own business was influenced by topics connected with my experiences in education. My first book, and future educational books I am currently writing, center on my belief that our public education system needs to live up to the promise of “leaving no child behind”.  However, rather than just focusing on the problems, I wanted to use my time imagining solutions to remove and replace barriers hindering populations in urban and rural communities from achieving successful educational outcomes. The problem solving process was challenging because it required some innovative thinking about how to depart from current models and practices by replacing them with something better. I learned it is essential to never leave a void. I also wanted to be explicit about what I intend to achieve. My hope is by stating, “Here’s how we build more hopeful futures for our children.”, it will help provide clarity about the mission.  And in that spirit I decided to create my own business to reflect my aspirations for all kids. It is also why I chose to name my business, Because I Can, and publishing company, Imagine A More Promising Future Publishing.

What do you love most about the industry you are in?

As an author I appreciate the opportunity to share my perspective about our obligation to invest greater interest in the conditions that impact the futures of all children. Exploring ideas is one way to begin the dialogue. But my hope is whether or not people embrace my ideas, they are motivated to speak up and share their thoughts. We need to be open to diverse perspectives.

What would you tell others looking to get into your industry?

My advice to new writers and aspiring authors is to simply begin then continue writing.  I found it useful to write about a variety of topics that came to mind. After all, we are multi-dimensional people. For those who desire to publish their writings, start exploring steps to familiarize yourself with the publishing process; including publishing options. Independent publishing is a very different path from traditional publishing. I opted for self-publishing because I wanted to retain my freedom.

What is the biggest lesson you have learned during your career?

While not necessarily the biggest lesson I learned, certainly an important lesson that has served me well as a novice in independent publishing is not to let the “unknown” prevent me from moving forward. Independent publishing is a multi-step process and some of the individual steps included a series of tasks that needed to be completed. As a first timer, where everything was totally foreign to me, learning about the scope and sequence of what needed to get done was sometimes daunting. It took a lot of reminding myself to “ relax, breathe, research, process what I learned, re-read for more clarity any information not initially understood and then just get it done.” Building several different “To Do” lists was especially helpful, because I take particular joy in checking off each step achieved and declaring it “Ta Done!” As you can see, having a sense of humor is helpful too.

If you could change one thing you did in the beginning of your career, what would it be?

Great question! It was what I experienced in the beginning of my teaching career that influenced my decision to write about missing links in my second book, Cultivating Exceptional Classrooms. It’s one thing to enroll in education programs in college in preparation for my teaching career, then experience an entirely different landscape from what I expected as a first year teacher; and a novice. Now, as an author I am using my new platform to change one thing I encountered in the beginning of my career as a first year teacher. I am advocating for a new staffing model that embeds professional development specialists inside of schools to support first year teachers. Having to learn on my own how to manage a classroom, prepare instruction, design lessons and a range of other responsibilities while concurrently addressing the emotional and social needs of students with a variety of learning deficiencies was challenging. It could have been made less challenging if full-time support specialists were embedded at my school to guide me. I have no doubt that the guidance would have accelerated my advancement from being a novice teacher to a much more competent educator.

What is one piece of advice that you have never forgotten?

Generally one piece of advice I have never forgotten is to never forget really good advice.

What is one thing you would change in your industry today if you could?

Since my current career as a writer is linked with my former career as an educator and school leader, my first book, America’s Educational Crossroads; Continue to Widen the Achievement Gap or Make a Seismic Shift Forward into the 21st Century, became my platform for proposing several changes in our public education system. Among the changes I proposed is discontinuing the practice of failing students and burdening them with the responsibility of being insufficiently educated. Instead I proposed a new practice of assessing errors students make as revelations of learning gaps that are deserving of remedial or additional instruction. But obtaining mastery as a means of demonstrating how well students understand what they are taught ought to be the bar set for all students; including those who earn passing grades of “C” or “B”. Whatever errors are revealed in any student’s work being assessed, all students are deserving of additional instruction and an opportunity to achieve “A’s”, which is universally perceived as obtaining mastery level performance. It’s also how we close academic achievement gaps.

Explain the proudest day of your professional life.

The proudest day of my new and current professional life as a writer was February 1st 2022 when my first book, America’s Educational Crossroads, was published and available to the public, followed by the successful launch of my website. February 2022 was particularly gratifying because I achieved a trifecta; publication of the book, going public with my first website and sharing a video of a contemporary high school campus model featuring a network of career and college prep programs. The Collaborative High School Campus Model, available on the Media Page of my website, illustrates a 21st century model designed to align college and career aspirations of students with their four-year high school educational experience. Pursuing a high school diploma will no longer be just a formality. A more holistic educational experience that links acquiring skills in careers of their own choosing, while receiving quality education at the highest standards will help students find purpose in attending high school.

Pneumatic Tube Systems: Prioritizing Patient Care

At the peak of the pandemic, demand for COVID-19 testing at hospitals caused delays in testing for other disorders such as respiratory diseases, STIs, and healthcare associated infections. Even now, up to 40% of ER patients are primarily there for COVID testing, meaning backups for other tests are only increasing. With so many other patients who need tests each day, what is causing such a delay in receiving results?

In 2021, 99% of US hospitals and health systems reported procurement challenges. Shortages affected critical lab supplies such as pipettes, sterile water, and regents which are all integral in producing results for lab tests. Along with equipment shortages, nearly 80% of physicians reported shortages of drugs. These drugs affect all patients, not just those with COVID-19.

The lack of supplies and drugs in hospitals and healthcare systems is directly affecting the accuracy of tests and the delivery of results. Blood, plasma, and platelet samples are often temperature and time sensitive. If a sample has to wait to be tested due to supply shortages, there is a higher chance that it will be rejected. In fact, 6% of emergency lab specimens are rejected before analysis. These materials have to be discarded, and tests have to be retaken. This wastes valuable time and resources for an already stressed healthcare system.

The implementation of pneumatic tube systems can help alleviate some of the pressure of healthcare workers and solve the problem of inventory waste. These tube systems move carriers using compressed air and can transport materials at around 25 feet per second. Sensors ensure each carrier reaches its intended destination in a timely manner. These carriers can move from station to station, floor to floor, and even into different buildings! This means no matter where a test needs to go, it will get there before it is time or temperature compromised.

Pneumatic tube systems not only help hospital systems deliver materials in a timely manner, they can also help ensure that samples don’t break and help avoid medication errors. RFID tagging is used to make sure samples are delivered to the correct station, and this helps to also reduce labeling errors overall. Tube systems also prioritize delivery for emergency medications, blood units, and IVs which can lower the risk of running out of these essential supplies.

It has been proven that pneumatic tube systems have numerous benefits for hospitals and other healthcare systems. Advanced systems significantly reduce turnaround time for emergency testing, which helps to reduce time to treatment as well as patient wait times in the ER. In an average hospital, tests were delivered nearly 20 minutes faster than in hospitals that don’t have a tube system. In one hospital it was found that a floor with a tube system experienced zero medication errors over four weeks compared toa  floor without a system that experienced 16.

The healthcare system already deals with enough stress especially after the pandemic. Implementing pneumatic tube systems can help to alleviate some of these stresses in a number of ways. Learn more about the benefits of these systems in the infographic below:

How Live Video Will Shape the Future of Communication

From 2016 to 2021, live video traffic quadrupled. Why?

The pandemic has created a permanent shift towards remote working, education, and entertainment. Businesses and consumers are demanding live video in order to facilitate this, and as a result, global live video revenue will reach $184 billion by 2028.

Within the corporate space, live video is more than just replacing meetings. Half of webinars are related to onboarding and training employees, and even earlier in the recruiting process, 86% of employee interviews are now conducted over video calls. From client calls to marketing campaigns and beyond, live video is the most effective way to convey information and connect with customers. Live video is not only cheaper and more efficient than in-person communication, but it is more effective than text or phone based communications; visuals are processed 60,000 times faster than text by the human brain.

Businesses are also buying in to live video in order to meet consumer demand that has arisen in the aftermath of the pandemic. 17% of US patient visits were conducted via telehealth visits last year, and in 2020, the gaming industry generated $9.3 billion in content revenue. Streaming is gaining popularity: 33% of consumers interact with live video over five times a week, and 79% interact with live video at least once a week.

Yet despite all this, effective live video remains a challenge. Live streaming demands high bandwidth in order to deliver low-latency, consistent visual and audio quality. In addition, connection issues arise due to an inability to be compatible with the range of different devices and platforms that users stream from.

As a result of these challenges, live video costs employees over three days per year in waiting for meetings to start, a number that doubles for senior executives. A whopping 62% of workers never use live video for work purposes, likely due to bad experiences with such platforms, as well as a lack of familiarity.

Consumers are also suffering. Many streaming platforms are poorly designed, meaning that common functions such as screen share and muting are a hassle to use. Required downloads to join meetings create delays, and the process can be even more complicated with dialling in from a mobile device.

Given all this, and the lingering privacy concerns associated with the security of streams, it comes as no surprise that 30% of sales professionals believe their web conferencing tools are hindering sales, rather than helping them.

Luckily, these issues are not unsolvable. Eyeson, a platform made for developers, by developers, has patented a single stream technology that enables all participants to view any data source, from any device, on a single, real-time video stream. The platform streamlines screen share, recording and data overlay features, alongside any individual client integrations.

It is clear that the demand for live video already exists, and Eyeson demonstrates that seamless, low-latency live video streaming is possible to meet it. With such a positive outlook, businesses should be prepared to integrate streaming into many of their operations if they haven’t already.
